Cruise and Dive on Windstar
dive program aboard the Windstar vessels is similar to any state-of-the-art,
five star facility that one would find in the US. The staff consists
of instructors with PADI/NAUI certifications. All of our instructors
have been in the dive industry for many years and have at least
5,000 combined logged dives, while certifying thousands of divers.
The program offers a weekly resort diver course, which allows
the non-certified diver the opportunity to try SCUBA. The present
course only takes two hours and is conducted while the ship is
at sea. All certified divers must present a valid c-card or fax
confirmation from a certifying agency prior to diving. Certification
referrals are conducted on an individual basis. All dives are
guided for safety and enjoyment.
is from two 17’ RIB’s with a maximum capacity of 16
divers on any dive (this prevents overcrowding at dive sites),
although the program can offer several dives to any given site
to accommodate large groups. Sherwood provides the latest regulators
and BCD’s. All regulators have alternate air sources, depth
and pressure gauges. A qualified Sherwood technician services
all regulators annually. BCD power inflator assemblies, reg hoses
and mouthpieces are checked weekly and replaced if necessary.
Tanks are aluminum 80’s and use K valves. All tanks are
visually inspected annually by a certified technician and hydrostatically
tested every five years. The program has two Bauer compressors
on board for reliable air supply. Boats are equipped with first
aid, oxygen, ladders and VHF radios.
cost is $70 for a one tank dive or $120.00 for a 2 tank!
on the Windstar vessels is convenient and easy. All gear is rigged
by the staff and placed in the boats. Divers need only show up
10 minutes before dive time ready to have fun. After the dive,
the staff unrigs and washes the gear.
